An unusual means of transport: a train that takes you to the most fascinating castles in the two valleys. I have taken this trip with my family and I promise you it was a memorable day, one which we all enjoyed and still recall with fondness! An early start to meet up at Trento railway station and off we go. Destination: castles!
The train climbs the hillsides of the Noce river valley and during the journey we enjoy a tasty breakfast and the guides regale us with stories about the region, its products, history and art. The journey really starts when we get to the Val di Sole, as we tour the manor houses with well-informed guides who provide a huge amount of information. The first castle is San Michele in Ossana, then comes Castel Caldes where we enjoy a good lunch. In the afternoon, we head to the Val di Non and the private residence of Castel Valer and, lastly, the majestic Castel Thun where we savour the sunset. What a day!
