What you are giving with "MelaColgo"

The real gift is the experience: half a day spent in the orchard in the company of a local expert.

On the day of the harvest, your loved one will be accompanied by the farmer on a visit to the farm, while learning how to gently pick apples from the tree so that they remain perfectly preserved once back home.

Along with the memory of the experience, your loved one will take home the famous DOP-certified apples of Val di Non (5 kg) and enjoy a delicious snack lovingly prepared by the farm.

When can you take part in MelaColgo and how does it work?

The famous apples of Val di Non ripen at the end of summer, and harvesting takes place mainly in September and October, depending on the variety. The first apples to be picked are Gala, which can already be harvested from the end of August in the lower part of the valley. The last are the Fuji, which are generally harvested until around mid-October.

The apple harvest season in Val di Non is truly a hive of activity: you'll see tractors loaded with crates, red baskets, snacks enjoyed in the meadows, pickers arriving from far away, apples being sorted and deliveries being made to the apple storage facilities.

The farmers at the Agritur Ambasciatori di Melinda are happy to explain the essential rules for a perfect harvest. Just a few minutes of practice and an explanation of the right picking technique, and you'll be ready to become a farmer too! You can immediately bite into an apple and hear its unmistakable crisp crunch. You'll fill your own crate with the other apples and take them home with you. Stored in a cool, dark place, they will keep for several days. And when you bite into one – or offer it to your friends – you'll be able to tell them that you picked it yourself!

What does the MelaColgo package include?

The price of the MelaColgo experience includes:
- a visit to the farm, with a walk through the orchard and an explanation of the farmer's work
- picking your own apples directly from the tree (5 kg)
- a snack featuring products made from apples (juice, strudel, dried apples, etc.)
- a voucher valid for a complimentary product at MondoMelinda with Golden Theater, the visitor centre of the Melinda Consortium

The experience costs:

- € 12.00 per child aged 3 to 10 (accompanied by at least 1 adult)
