Lake Santa Giustina is in the middle of the Val di Non, near Cles. It is a man-made lake, created by the construction of the mighty dam built between 1943 and 1951. The artificial basin creates a spectacular sight and fits in perfectly with the landscape of the valley. It is the largest man-made lake in the region, built by the Edison Group between 1943 and 1951. The aim was to harness the water of the river Noce to generate electricity. The lake has a capacity of 182 million cubic metres of water and is 8 km long and up to 1 km wide. The waters of the lake penetrate into several canyons, creating very picturesque scenery, well known by lovers of kayaking.
