Classic and very popular route in the Maddalene Group at the border with South Tyrol
This route is highly appreciated for the absence of technical sections and the relative safety of the slopes it runs on.
The itinerary is exposed southeast. On mild days the surface layer of snow melts and then freezes at night. In mild weather it is easy to find icy stretches which are more easily tackled using crampons.
It is recommended not to park right next to the houses of the Matzlaun hamlet but rather in the roadside clearings, even if this means walking short stretches along the road for approach and return.
