The Altaguardia Castle stands on a spur at an altitude of 1,224 metres and is the highest castle in the whole of Trentino. The castle was built in the 13th century and most of its walls are still standing today. It retains a special atmosphere and the view from up here dominates the entire valley.
Near Bresimo there is a Venetian sawmill, i.e. a sawmill powered by water. Venetian sawmills spread throughout Trentino in the 13th century, at that time one of the timber supply areas of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. The sawmill operates exclusively thanks to the power of water, conveyed through a canal above a paddle wheel.
