Last stage of our Camino arriving at the Sanctuary of San Romedio, the goal of our route. It is a pleasant medium-length walk, with contained elevation changes and charming landscapes of the lower Val di Non.
Those who still have time and strength in their legs can conclude the walk with this variant of great historical and naturalistic interest: Stage 7 - Naturalistic variant
We encounter Castel Thun, a splendid noble residence that gave birth to the powerful Thun family and at least ten bishops for Trentino and Austria. In Dardine we find the beautiful church of S. Marcello, which preserves valuable medieval frescoes. Shortly after, we encounter the Pieve di Torra whose square offers a view of the lower and middle valley where, amid vast cultivated areas, villages and castles stand out. At the outskirts of Taio we find Castel Bregher. In Coredo, in the upper part of the village, stands Palazzo Nero, which was the seat of episcopal jurisdiction and sadly famous for the witch trials of the 17th century. The Cammino Jacopeo, which begins at the Basilica of the Holy Martyrs of Sanzeno, the main Christian site in our valley, has the Sanctuary of San Romedio as its goal; the symbolic place of the human experience of the pilgrim and hermit Romedio who, after detaching himself from his substantial possessions, was captivated during his pilgrimage to Rome by the harshness of this valley to dedicate the rest of his life entirely to God, to the good of the people, and in intimate contact with nature.
The stamp to be placed on the Pilgrim's Credential can be found at:
Dardine - church of S. Marcello
Coredo - church of the Finding of the Holy Cross
Sanctuary of S. Romedio - at the sanctuary's little shop there is a book to sign and leave a comment about the Camino just completed.
