Circular hike through the green meadows of Rumo and its hamlets up to the border with South Tyrol. The hike is pleasant due to the many panoramic viewpoints over the valley and the churches of Corte Inferiore and Lanza, which are worth visiting. It is also recommended to reach the unique South Tyrolean village of Proves.
From the center of Marcena, you ascend on the main road and proceed towards Lanza. From here, you take the so-called “Giro del Lez” trail. On this scenic trail, you walk almost flat above the villages of the Rumo Valley until the intersection with the SAT trail 147. Turn left and with a steep climb reach the intersection with trails 12-14, which you follow to the left on a mostly flat forest road through green meadows with several panoramic views towards Passo Fresna. Those who wish can reach on foot in just 15 minutes the South Tyrolean village of Proves, where a visit to the neo-Gothic church of St. Nicholas is recommended. From Passo Fresna, descend steeply towards Lanza following the signs 2A. In the village of Lanza, a visit to the parish church of St. Vigilio, located in a panoramic position, is recommended. Finally, follow the same route taken at the beginning of the hike to return to Marcena di Rumo.
Before the ascent on trail marker 147, by turning downhill on the asphalt road, you can descend to the small village below, Corte Inferiore, where on a panoramic hill stands the charming 15th-century church of St. Udalricus, worth visiting for the beautiful frescoes by the Baschenis brothers.
