Fiorinda, the blooming festival

The blooming of apple trees in Val di Non is one of the most evocative natural events in Trentino. In early April, as the sun’s rays warm the expanses of apple orchards, a myriad small white and pink blossom explodes, filling the valley with its delicate fragrance.

Celebrate this unique event with us and don't miss Fiorinda, the event that combines the floral explosion of Val di Non with the joy of the local people for the arrival of spring!

About Fiorinda

This cheerful and colourful fête marks the start of spring and pays tribute to the flowering of apple blossom across Val di Non. Fiorinda is a weekend of fun, a colourful showcase of culture, good food and wine and fruit growing, that makes the Trentino valley of the DOP apple unique, in an environmentally- and family-friendly way.

Fiorinda offers you the chance to:

  • Tantalise your taste buds by trying tasty local traditional dishes.
  • Purchase the first saplings of the season in the colourful nursery section.
  • Wander through the market stalls of craftsmen and hobbyists displaying their creations.
  • Keep the little ones entertained with fun activities designed just for them.
  • Discover some of the cultural beauties of Val di Non: ancient parishes, majestic castles and delightful little crafts museums.
  • Walk through the orchards along with the farmer to discover all there is to know about Melinda apples.

Grab a map and spend the day as you see fit. Here's what you'll find:

  • Themed areas for young visitors, with inflatable games, tractor rides, shows, entertainment activities, fun workshops, the Azienda Agricola San Romedio petting zoo, tours of the apple orchards aboard the Melabus, a colourful tractor set up to carry people.
  • A large market packed with stands from the producers of the Strada della Mela e dei Sapori (literally, Road of Apples and Flavours), offering plenty of tasty local produce. You’ll have the opportunity to taste and purchase cold cuts, cheeses, wines, beers, officinal plants and honey.
  • The hobbyists and craftsmen's stalls showcasing original creations, the fruit of their talent and impeccable workmanship.
  • The horticulture section filled with plants and flowers. Ornamental plants, fruit trees, saplings for vegetable gardens: a genuine paradise for avid gardeners!
  • Gastronomic areas for you to try local dishes linked to farming traditions: canederli, polenta, salted meat carpaccio, the unfailing potato patties and delicious apple fritters.

You’ll also get the chance to participate in:

  • Cultural visits to the nearby Padre Kino Museum, the majestic Thun Castle, the wonderful Valer Castle and the whip museum of Taio, an important testimony to the history of this hamlet.
  • Guided tours of the Taio Hydroelectric Power Plant and the famous Santa Giustina Dam, which soars at a height of 152 metres and was the highest dam in Europe for a long time. There is no need for you to drive there, as shuttle buses from the fête location will take you directly to the dam and back!
  • Walk through the orchards in the company of the farmer, who will unveil the secrets of this fruit, which makes our valley unique.
  • Guided tours of MondoMelinda, the Consortium's point of sale, where you’ll be able to taste or buy all the varieties of apples and their by-products.
  • Guided tour of MondoMelinda’s hypogeal (i.e. underground) warehouses, which are exceptionally opening their doors for guests to discover how Melinda apples are preserved in the underground universe carved out of the dolomitic rock. And should you be unable to visit the underground warehouses, you'll still get the chance to see them as you enter the Golden Theatre, the golden cube in the forecourt of MondoMelinda: enjoy the thrilling virtual journey that takes you underground into the famous caves!
