Val di Non is home to many alpine huts and refuges, and many of them can be reached comfortably by car.
Of course, arriving at a hut or alpine pasture on foot is a completely different satisfaction. However, in some cases it can be useful to know that some of these places are accessible by car.
This is especially helpful for families with small children or elderly visitors who don’t want to miss out on the views, the fresh mountain air, and good local food. These huts make excellent starting points for short hikes in the mountains.
A short walk from the parking lot to the refuge is ideal for those spending an evening at a hut. Visitors arrive in the late afternoon and enjoy a hearty dinner, often including knödel (dumplings) and polenta, perhaps in good company. By the time it’s time to return to the car, it may be dark—but that’s not a problem if the walk is only 10 minutes.
These huts are also perfect spots to enjoy the night of San Lorenzo (shooting stars). The valley lights are far away and don’t disturb the vast starry sky above. We recommend bringing a blanket to lie on the meadows around the hut and wearing warm clothing. From here, shooting stars are often visible on summer nights, so on the night of San Lorenzo the spectacle is guaranteed!

These are roads suitable for everyone, and no special permit is required.
