Lake Tovel is one of the most impressive and renowned places in Trentino. It regularly attracts numerous people to admire the beauty of its landscape, take a walk around the lake and spend the day on its white Caribbean-like beaches.
The various parking areas in the Val di Tovel valley are subject to reservation and parking fees. This helps to prevent overcrowding and allows all visitors to enjoy a relaxed day at Lake Tovel.
In the location of Capriolo, the road leading to Lake Tovel will be closed from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm during the following periods: From June 19 to July 4, 2021 (on weekends), from July 10 to September 5, 2021 (daily) and from September 11 to October 31, 2021 (on weekends).
Parking after the Capriolo parking area will be accessible before 10:30 am and after 4:30 pm. For the duration of the road closure, the parking spaces can only be used by visitors who previously booked a parking lot online. To reach the chosen car park, visitors must wait for the departure of the shuttle bus to follow it until the reserved parking area.

Parking areas in the Val di Tovel valley
Parking areas in TuennoThe Val di Tovel valley begins in the municipality of Tuenno, where visitors can find two large and free car parks. The Val di Tovel Express shuttle bus, which runs regularly between these two car parks and the lake, will take you to 400 metres from the shore of Lake Tovel in 29 minutes. The ticket costs €3.00 (round trip).
At the entrance to the Val di Tovel valley there is a large digital display that provides real-time information on the occupancy of the several parking areas. If you arrive by car, you will reach the car parks in the following order:
Parking areas Capriolo and Tamburello
• These car parks respectively offer 90 and 50 parking lots. The daily rate is €6.00. The lake can be reached in 5.7 km from here by walking along the Glare hiking trail (difference in elevation: 400 m).
• The Tovel shuttle bus reaches the lake in 11 minutes. The one-way ticket costs €2.00 and the round trip ticket €3.00.
Our tip: Take the shuttle bus to the lake and walk back to the parking area along the Glare hiking trail. The trail awaits you with a particularly beautiful route which leads through the extensive scree slope which in early summer is a real attraction thanks to its beautiful ephemeral lakes.
Parking areas Glare and Lavacel
• These car parks are 3 km from the lake. If you want to reach the lake walking from here, the route also leads along the Glare hiking trail (difference in elevation: 200 m). The car parks offer respectively 30 and 60 parking lots. The daily rate is €8.00.
• The Tovel shuttle bus reaches the lake in 6 minutes. The one-way ticket costs €2.00 and the round trip ticket €3.00.
Parking area at the lake
• This is the closest car park to the lake. To reach the lake, follow the 400 m asphalt path up to the lake. The car park offers 120 parking lots. The daily rate is €10.00.
How to book the parking spaces for your visit at Lake Tovel
From June 12 to September 26, 2021, the parking spaces are subject to charges. Afterwards, in the period from 31 October to 1 November, 2021, the fee will only apply at weekends.
The parking attendants are in place from 8 am to 6 pm. If you arrive at one of the car parks before 8 am, on your return you will find a note on your car with the request to pay for the parking lot with one of the parking attendants.
In the event that you arrive before 8 am and return to the car park after 6 pm, you will find a note from the Adamello Brenta Nature Park on the car with the request to pay for the parking space within the indicated term by bank transfer.
1. Booking and payment of parking lots on the website of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park
The parking ticket for your visit at Lake Tovel can be purchased in advance on the website of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park. On the website you can also purchase tickets for the shuttle bus departing from Cles, Tuenno, the various hamlets and the municipality of Ville d’Anaunia and serving the Val di Tovel parking areas up to the parking area at the lake. Tickets can be purchased until 7 am on the day of your visit.
2. Payment of parking fees on-site
Alternatively, you may also pay for the parking ticket directly on-site with cash. In this case, stop at the first parking area in Capriolo. According to the availability of the parking spaces, you will be directed to the parking lot closest to the lake. Please note: Without prior reservation, especially in high season you might not find a free parking space.
Please inform the parking attendants in Capriolo in case you do not have any cash with you. As there is a cash desk only at the Capriolo parking area, payment by EC or credit card is only possible at this car park.
Shuttle services to Lake Tovel
Tovel shuttle bus
The Tovel shuttle bus runs between 10:30 am and 4:30 pm – the period of time in which the traffic restriction applies beginning from the Capriolo parking area. Depending on the high or low season, the shuttle bus runs every 20 to 30 minutes between the parking areas of Capriolo, Tamburello, Glare, Lavacel and the parking area at the lake.
The bus ticket can be purchased online via Openmove app or on-site at the Capriolo parking area until 8 am of the same day of your visit. This shuttle service will be available during the following periods: From June 19 to July 4, 2021 (on weekends), from July 10 to September 5, 2021 (daily) and from September 11 to October 31, 2021 (on weekends). The ticket costs €3.00 (round trip).
Val di Tovel Express shuttle bus
The Val di Tovel Express shuttle bus departs from the railway station of Cles. This is where all the bus lines of the Val di Tovel valley stop, as well as the local railway that connects the Val di Non valley with Trento and the Val di Sole valley. Starting from Cles, the shuttle bus leaves for Tuenno and stops at the Tuenno parking area at the entrance to the Val di Tovel valley, before stopping in all parking areas of the valley with the parking area at the lake as final stop.
The bus ticket can only be purchased online with the Openmove app, until 8 am of the day of your visit.
This shuttle service, which covers the Cles- Lake Tovel route, will be available during the following periods: From June 19 to July 4, 2021 (on weekends), from July 10 to September 5, 2021 (daily) and from September 11 to October 31, 2021 (on weekends). The ticket costs €3.00 (round trip).
Ville d’Anaunia Express
The Ville d’Anaunia Express shuttle bus also departs from Cles, but before arriving in Tuenno (at the entrance to the Val di Tovel valley) it stops in all towns of the municipality of Ville d’Anaunia: Rallo, Tassullo, Sanzenone, Nanno, Portolo and Pavillo.
The shuttle bus will run during the following periods: From June 19 to July 4, 2021 (on weekends), from July 10 to September 5, 2021 (daily) and from September 11 to October 31, 2021 (on weekends). The ticket costs €3.00 (round trip).
Visiting the Val di Tovel valley by camper
If you are travelling by camper van, you will find a suitable parking area in Tuenno: The “Ex-Russia” car park is situated at the road junction into the Val di Tovel valley. In the valley itself, parking for campers is only allowed at the Lavacel parking area (3 km from the lake).
It is not allowed to park camper vans in the car park at the lake. The parking fee for campers at the Lavacel parking area is €18.00 while parking at the Tuenno parking area is free of charge.

Rates for buses and motorbikes
The daily rate for minibuses with more than 9 seats is €20.00. For coaches with more than 19 seats the daily rate is €40.00.
The daily rate for motorbikes is €5.00.
