In autumn, the nature of Val di Non puts on its best show and Lake Tovel is one of the most popular places to admire the wonderful autumn foliage.
Here we explain how the parking areas in Val di Tovel work during the autumn period. A quick guide to help you make the most of your day surrounded by beautiful autumn colours!
Autumn parking reservations and management will be active:
- every day until 20 September 2026
- on weekends from 26 September to 1 November 2026
How to purchase your parking ticket and access Val di Tovel
The main things to know:
1. we recommend reserving and purchasing your parking space online. We recommend booking your parking space in advance
2. the ticket can be purchased online until 6:00 am on the day of your visit. Alternatively, you can also purchase it on the same day, on site, from the staff using a handheld device, subject to availability and with a €2.00 surcharge
3. fees vary depending on the distance of the parking area from the lake
Please note: parking is free for fully electric vehicles and vehicles displaying a disabled parking permit (to make a reservation and receive the dedicated discount code, send an email to mobility@pnab.it). Parking is also free with ParcoKey, for Alpine Guides and AMMs (Mountain Accompanied Guides) while carrying out their professional activities, and for residents of the municipalities that own the park, only with a pass issued by the Municipality of Ville d'Anaunia.

Staff will be present from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm when the shuttle bus service is operating, and from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm when mobility restrictions are not in place.
Only vehicles with a valid parking ticket will be allowed to continue towards the lake. Access to the valley will be controlled from Segia (km 0.9 of SP14) or from Capriolo (km 0.9 of SP14).
The parking areas will be filled starting with the ones closest to the lake: first Lago, then Lavacel, Glare, Tamburello and Capriolo. Once all the parking areas in the valley are full, traffic will be diverted towards the Ex Cofco parking area in Tuenno, along SP73.
From there, a paid shuttle bus service will operate to reach the lake.
The Ex Cofco parking area in Tuenno will be subject to a €4.00 fee and will only be used as a parking area once all the other parking areas in Val di Tovel are full, with the €4.00 shuttle service then activated.
Please note! During the sustainable mobility service with shuttle buses, the road will be closed to vehicle traffic from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm starting from Lavacel. During this time slot, it will not be possible to continue by car, even with a parking reservation, except with special authorisation.
Tourist coaches, however, can reach the Lago parking area directly even during the road closure hours.
For campers, the dedicated parking area is "Lavacel", which can be booked for one or more days through the dedicated box.
Tourist coaches can reach the Lago parking area, which has 5 spaces; therefore, online booking is strongly recommended. Access is also permitted for passenger drop-off/pick-up only (in this case, no ticket is required), but coaches must always follow the PNAB shuttle buses.

To reach Lake Tovel conveniently and sustainably, two dedicated transport services will operate during autumn.
1) Shuttle buses within the valley
The shuttle service that connects the parking areas along Val di Tovel with the lake (i.e. the service running between the parking areas from Capriolo to the lake) is free of charge and does not require a reservation. Staff will distribute numbered tickets on site to regulate access according to the order of arrival.
Operating period:
- every day until 6 September 2026
- every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 12 September to 1 November 2026
2) Val di Tovel Express
Shuttle bus service departing from Cles bus station with stops in Tuenno (Trentino Trasporti stops), with a paid return ticket and mandatory online booking.
When it will operate:
- every day until 6 September 2026
-
every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) until 20 September, with reduced services
How much does it cost:
- Return ticket: €6.00
- One-way downhill: €3.00 (ticket can only be purchased on site)
- From Tuenno (Ex Cofco), return ticket: €4.00
- Free for children up to 8 years old when accompanied (1 adult + 1 child free) and ParcoKey holders
On days when the shuttle bus mobility service is operating, the road from Lavacel to the Lago parking area will be closed to traffic from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. Vehicles with an online reservation must also enter before 11:00 am / after 2:30 pm and, if they arrive during the road closure period, must use the shuttle bus.
Dogs may board the shuttle only if equipped with a muzzle and leash.
