The potato tortèl is the most beloved dish of Val di Non!
It’s a dish meant to be shared! A big platter piled high with tortèi in the middle of the table, and then everyone enjoys them just the way they like: local dairy cheeses, lucanica sausage, speck, mortandela, carne salada, and the ever-present cabbage and borlotti bean salad (with onion, it’s even better!).
And Groppello is the heroic grape variety of Val di Non, the perfect red wine to pair with tortèl!
Today, only four wineries vinify Groppello, and they are all located in Val di Non. These four winemaking families bring out the very best of Groppello: the acidity that develops with aging and the rounded spiciness achieved through maturation in small wooden barrels.
The menu
All the restaurants listed below serve potato tortèl accompanied by cheeses, cured meats, cabbage, and borlotti beans.
Each restaurant then adds its own house specialty: some serve pork ribs, others sauerkraut, others homemade jam, and others a traditional dessert.

Tortèl masterclass in the winery
The perfect way to learn how to prepare the famous potato tortèl at home, just as good as in the restaurant!
