Trekking and hiking in Val di Non

When I need to get away from it all, I get up early, have a good breakfast, prepare my backpack, put on my boots and head off. Just by climbing a bit higher, I immediately begin to feel better.

A walk surrounded by nature, listening to the wind blowing through the trees, catching sight of animals which run off at the first hint of noise, continually looking around to try to capture all this beauty in my memory: enchanting.

I love trying out new routes but here in the Val di Non I have my favourite paths which always offer something new, even though I know them off by heart, such as the tour of the mountain dairies of the Val di Tovel in the Brenta Dolomites or the tour of Monte Peller crossing the Pian della Nana plateau or indeed the path which leads up to Lake Trenta in the Maddalene.

Trekking is never straightforward. Every now and then, it takes such a long time to reach you destination that it seems like you will never get there but it’s always worth it! The view you get from the up on high is something indescribable. What are you waiting for? Grab some boots and hiking poles and join me!

Before setting out on an excursion at altitude, plan your trip with care. If you are inexperienced or you intend to tackle a route graded as technically difficult, then consult an alpine or mountain guide. You should also contact the refuge warden in the area you’ll be visiting for the latest weather information and to discuss whether your route is advisable.
Take prudent precautions, wear suitable clothing for your route, and remember to act responsibly in the mountains at all times.
